Owner and founder of Hot Yo Studio
For the last 10 years, Adelina lived abroad in many countries: mainly Australia, USA and England. Her relationship with yoga started when she was in Chicago where the stresses of work, studies and the harsh winter made her seek out a warm and relaxing outlet.
She fell in love with hot yoga, finding that it helped with her productivity and energy levels. It also helped her deal with everyday stresses and kept any weight gain at bay.
Adelina spent a month in the Himalayas for her Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga teacher certification in 2012, followed by a Hot yoga teacher certification in Koh Samui in early 2015. Upon returning to Malaysia and not being able to find a studio in KL that suited her needs, she decided to open up her own studio – Hot Yo Studio.

Annabelle is the face behind TheGreenBaker - an aspiring healthy baking endeavor.
Growing up with seafood allergies and being lactose intolerant, she has always enjoyed discovering the ways food can heal and provide the fuel she needed as she was training as a state swimmer. In 2008, she became a vegetarian after witnessing the mistreatment of animals while working as a food and travel journalist in the US.At this time, she was also training for marathons and knew she had to obtain ample nutrition for her active lifestyle without the use of pills. And so a life-long passion and research began for healthy yet delicious food combinations.
Experimenting with flavours and seasonal ingredients brought her solstice and a creative palate like never before, disproving the popular misconception that vegetarian food is “tasteless, bland, and depriving of oneself”. With the aim of getting certified as a Health Coach this year, her food philosophy is simple: Food should taste good and make you feel good - untainted, pure, and simple.

FOOD & TRAVEL BLOGGERS
While pursuing their passion for food and travel, Chris and Diana crossed each other’s paths in Dubai, just like two Healthy Nomads. From that moment, it was clear they would be eating their way around the world together. Diana grew up in Spain which was the perfect hub to visit nearly every country in Europe. Her Erasmus exchange in Ireland, and travels made her hungry to experience more of the world so she continued her Marketing career in Dubai. It was in the same company where she met Chris, a Dutch guy who enjoyed food and travel as much as she did. Chris, who was born and raised in Holland, ended up in Dubai via jobs in Malaysia and Singapore and studies in the US. After a while they decided to start a blog, writing about the things they love: everything food & travel, together with the person they love and a camel. Yes, they travel with a blow-up camel called Jamel around the world, taking funny pictures with their mascot.

people to realise their holistic wellness and aesthetic physical goals.

“My passion to educate people about achieving a balanced
state of health and wellbeing comes from a very personal place.
Approaching my teenage years, my younger brother was diagnosed with
cancer. He fought leukaemia for over four years, finally becoming
cancer-free at age nine. Several years later, my father was diagnosed
with stage three adenocarcinoma and cancer took his life less than a
year later.
These life-changing events sparked my desire to learn
everything available about preventative disease and illness prevention.
This led me to living and teaching the ways of embracing nature’s
miracles with its infinite healing properties and life-giving energy.
Now, here I am in my early 30s, an experienced wellness
professional who has spent the past 14 years researching, training and
travelling the world to experience and observe life and health from
different perspectives.
My adult life has been completely dedicated to LIVING health,
practicing cutting-edge advances in sports sciences and teaching my
refined methods of organic healthy living.
I believe that balance and awareness are the keys to a healthy body
and peaceful mind. Initially, this requires a shift in mindset from ‘I
should start taking better care of myself’ to ‘I must start taking
better care of myself.’ I am here to help you on that journey - I was
born to guide people towards the path of optimal health to achieve a
healthier body and a more positive and productive lifestyle. This is
what I live for!”

Debbie Ann Loh
Writer
As a teenager, the rich colours, textures and flavours of fresh
produce in neighbourhood markets, grocery stores and cooking shows
constantly fascinated Debbie. She then set out on a journey of
discovering the relationship between food, behaviour, and health. With a
major in Food Science and Nutrition, she later went on to complete her
graduate studies in Medical Science, focusing her research on eating
behaviour, childhood obesity, and the quality of life of adolescents.
She soon discovered her interest in writing as opportunities to pen
various public health topics came knocking on her door. Debbie then
stepped out of her comfort zone when she forayed into the public
relations industry, an exciting stint she will always treasure.
Food, fitness, fun, faith, family and friends grounds Debbie. While
she tends to gravitate towards Indian food, fried rice, and chocolate
indulgences, Debbie has embarked on her personal eating clean mission
and continues to experiment within and beyond her home-kitchen. Her
favourite workouts are on YouTube and she loves breaking a sweat with
calisthenics (the closest she has got to her childhood dream of being a
gymnast!) She unwinds with nature walks and gets an adrenaline rush from
outdoor adventures. Community is at the core of Debbie’s life, which
has taught her to have an attitude of gratitude. She is regularly
involved in health promotion and community outreach programmes, causes
that are close to her heart.
She resonates strongly with the health and wellness focus of PurelyB
and looks forward to building and engaging with a community where
healthy living is no longer the mantra of only health advocates and
campaigners but a daily possibility for everyone.

Farhana for Banyan Tamarind Foods
Banyan Tamarind Foods
Banyan Tamarind Foods was inspired by a beautiful project started in
India, called The Banyan Tamarind Initiative. The work sets out to
shift the education of the environment, from cities to villagers, where
the biggest shift in environmental protection is set to take place.
Banyan Tamarind Foods began serving delicious gourmet vegetarian
cuisine, fast food style, in 2016. The food has since been successfully
served at over 30 events, and has grown through word-of-mouth and
recommendations. Finding flavors, colors and textures from world
gourmet, like the streets of Mexico, to the countertops of Tokyo,
combining different ingredients, which come together in a scrumptious
and finger-licking meal, is the map for every dish. Every bite is filled
with adventure, bringing an experience of a journey into eating. During
the meal, one stops to discover something new, or revisits something
familiar. The food is comforting, as well as being delightfully
delicious!

Geeta Lachmandas
Motivational Speaker, Healthy Cooking instructor, Specialist in Post Illness Diets, Wellness Coach, Personal Chef
Geeta Lachmandas is a well-known personality in the Cooking &
Wellness arena in Kuala Lumpur. Owner of Culinary Capers, which started
as an ordinary cooking school in 2004 offering classes in many
innovative cuisines, she ventured into the culinary health &
wellness scene only in 2012, after she brought her own weight down by
following a regime of clean eating comprising mainly of whole food &
whole grains. Her “Healthy Cooking & Living” classes, which became
very popular in 2013 and 2014, are both true reflections of her firm
beliefs that to be healthy, we must eat natural, whole and unprocessed
foods as well as avoid the use of any artificial colourings,
flavourings, additives or preservatives. Her penchant for clean and
holistic living also started her foray into yoga and daily meditation,
starting her journey towards uncovering her true self, whilst letting go
of the many limiting beliefs she had about herself and her fears of
starting a new business.
In June 2015, after a routine mammogram, Geeta was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, which required immediate surgery.
With no hesitation or fear Geeta, decided to close her kitchen,
indefinitely, to concentrate on healing herself both physically and
emotionally. Geeta’s positive attitude, her spirituality and her
continuing enthusiasm for life as well as her already clean eating
regime helped her to fight the cancer very quickly. She is now back,
having started her new life with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. With no
fear of reinventing herself once again, and in line with her continuous
evolution, she is pursuing a 1-year intensive course at the Institute
for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York to accredit herself as a
certified health coach.

During her time in Melbourne, Janice embraced the city’s health craze
where clean eating and organic whole food options are easily accessible
at most of the brunch cafes. Ever since, she has been a self-professed

new restaurants in town. However, she does not take her high metabolism
for granted and can be seen swimming laps on most weekends. To calm her
non-stop chattering mind, she practices Ashtanga Yoga to find her own

Johanna Arshad
Health & Wellness Director (Naturopath)
Johanna Arshad is an accredited naturopath, a director of The Natural Health Practice, and practised naturopathy at Natural Harmony in Malaysia.
Johanna believes that our body has an innate capacity to fight diseases and heal itself. In her practice, she employs a combination of holistic therapies to assist the body in restoring its own health in a gentle and non-invasive manner. Johanna also believes that the mind and the body are connected, and that our emotional health affects our physical health. This led her to complete the practitioner’s course in Journey Therapy - a mind-body healing therapy.
For Johanna, naturopathy is not just a career - it’s her passion. The knowledge she has gained is embedded in her own lifestyle - she eats an organic wholefoods diet, exercises regularly and tries to get a decent amount of sleep (although this is challenging with one- and three-year olds!). When she gave birth to her two children, she chose an obstetrician that allowed her to give birth by "gentle birthing".
Before Johanna discovered naturopathy, she pursued a career in human resources. It wasn't until she attended an Anthony Robbins seminar, which included a day on health that her interest peaked. From then on, Johanna knew that she had to pursue her passion for naturopathy. Johanna now holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) degree from the University of New England in Australia, and Advanced Diplomas in Naturopathy, Western Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, and Homeopathy from the Australasian College of Natural Therapies in Sydney.
Johanna’s main areas of interest are herbal medicine, nutrition and bach flower remedies. She is also a certified Hemaview (Live Blood Analysis) practitioner.
Johanna has been featured in the New Straits Times, written for Only Health magazine and contributed to other articles on natural health.

Kahmun Wan
Education Facilitator
Kahmun is a person who is naturally curious about a myriad of topics
and an avid reader. When she is not running around volunteering and
advocating for better mental health care services, you will see her
serving in church, going out for movies, spending quality time with
people she holds dear in her heart while exploring the various cafés
found in the city. From time to time she goes jet setting around the
world to explore and discover people of different cultures; all while
having a good book to read in hand.
Kahmun is a graduate from Lancaster University and Sunway University
with a degree in BSc (Hons) Psychology. She is currently working as an
Education Facilitator at Hils Learning, Kuala Lumpur. Her theoretical
knowledge in Psychology has been put to the test while working with
children who learn differently. Working in Hils Learning has made Kahmun
realise the importance of rapport building with a child and to always
focus on what an individual can do. She believes that every child learns
differently and it is important to develop individualised education
programmes in order to cater for each child’s needs. She is trained in
various behavioural modification techniques such as conducting Brendan
O’Hara’s Movement and Learning course and has undergone training by Kim
Barthel on the neurobiology of behavioural management, among others.
Her past experience interning in various hospitals such as Malaysia’s
principle psychiatric institution (Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta) and
Perak’s largest government hospital (Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun)
have opened up her eyes to the importance of mental healthcare awareness
and incorporating a more holistic way in assisting individuals to enjoy
better mental well-being. The experience in managing clients from
various developmental stages has provided her with much knowledge in
assimilating theoretical knowledge to practical skills.

Khang Nee
Writer/Illustrator
For Khang Nee, whose interests lie in travelling, architecture, and
writing, becoming a writer seemed like the most natural career choice
for her. After graduating, she joined NUYOU magazine as one of its
reporters, but left her job after 2 years to travel to New Zealand for a
working holiday. After returning home, Khang Nee took on the editing
position for various fashion, health, beauty and travel magazines, and
all her years of experience made her understand that by doing the things
you enjoy in life, it represents the greatest respect any person could
have for themselves.
After her participation in a European cycling tour, Khang Nee decided
to bring the various sights, architectural landscapes and cultures she
saw to life by illustrating them onto postcards. She soon merged her
individuality and lifestyle together to create her own virtual character
– Mogu. The girl with a large mushroom atop her head was in fact Khang
Nee’s dream version of herself. In addition to the character narrating
her life story, Mogu is also the protagonist in Khang Nee’s upcoming
illustrated travel guide as well!
Crossing the border from a writer to an artist, the change has
reminded Khang Nee that as long as we are willing to take the first step
forward, no matter how great our dreams are, it can also just be a
stone’s throw away.

About a year into her return home, Maggie’s life transitioned 180

Maggie Kay
Mindfulness Leader, Yoga Teacher, Writer and Speaker
Prior to Maggie’s shift into Human Empowerment, she searched for her
purpose in the far corners of the globe and inside powerful media

creating promotional country reports distributed with USA Today. From
Africa to Asia to Europe, she called home to seven different countries
before the age of twenty-five. Then upon her return home to Los Angeles,
she joined Corporate America where she worked in sales and marketing

About a year into her return home, Maggie’s life transitioned 180

Marissa Parry
Health & Wellness Director (Nutrition & Fitness Coach)
Marissa Parry became an expert in health and wellness because she
truly understands how good nourishing your body with quality fuel and
feeling fit and strong feels.
The origins of Marissa’s passions are not extraordinary. Growing up as a teen, like many, she fell for the allure of the fast sugar fix and salty fried carbs as accompaniments to high-octane video game contests slouched over a beanbag. Not a paragon of virtuous teenage years but a typical story of youth.
Where the road takes the right fork is when she found herself in the right place at the right time and exposed to real food and positive activity. The revelation was simple; it felt amazing. It felt better. She wanted more of it and she wanted to share the feeling.
She has trained to her limits to see how far is enough. She has studied nutrition and found ways to make the bitter taste better. Far from that teenager, today she is an ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Medical Exercise Specialist, Holistic Nutritionist and is currently pursuing a Health and Wellness Consultant certification. She is both owner and an Instructor at Movimento Simples de Capoeira and Co-Founder/Health and Wellness Director of PurelyB and did we mention mother to two children, in whom her life philosophy is firmly planted and nurtured.

Writer
Brought up as an ‘international’ kid - having moved around her whole
life - she feels like every place and every person she meets is a story
worth telling. Which is where the writing all began - from blogging to
writing for online portals since the day she graduated. Writing has
always been her go-to form of expression - with words being the best way
to declutter the mind.
Aside from writing, she’s always found calm in running and meditation
(still a newbie to this one) - though she still can’t help but indulge
in good local food from time to time - she still tries to balance to it
all with a good dose of healthy, here and there.
Everyday is a learning curve, every experience is something to take home.

Yin Yin Boey, also known as Raw Chef Yin, is one of Malaysia's
up-and-coming raw vegan chefs. She trained at the world’s first
classically structured raw and plant-based culinary school, the Matthew
Kenney Culinary Academy and is now on a quest to inspire and encourage
everyone to make delicious, healthy and energising plant-based meals.
Armed with some of the most innovative techniques on raw food
preparation, Raw Chef Yin is constantly crafting her very own raw
creations which have a uniquely Malaysian flavour such as Bunga Telang
Ice Cream, Ciku Pudding with Dragon Fruit Coulis and Spicy Malaysian
Mango Tartare.
She is known for conducting fun, interactive food workshops,
demonstrations and private consultation sessions across Asia including
Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, and Penang.
From time to time, she also provides her pop-up raw cafe services
upon request at places such as Eats, Shoots & Roots and Makespace
KL.

Mail, Zafigo, Tiffin.my, Calibre, Fireflyz, Triple-M and has also

Station and Matic.FM.
She is the host of Malaysia’s first raw vegan uncooking show: VELICIOUS with Raw Chef Yin.
Her mission is to change the perception that raw vegan food is
tasteless, too green and totally unappetising. She wants the world to
know that raw food can and should be mouthwateringly scrumptious and
delightfully appealing.

Zarina Parry
Writer & Advocate of babywearing
Zarina Parry lives in KL. She started looking for baby swim classes
when her first child was 6 months old and found one teacher, who
consequently returned overseas. After baby number 2, she decided to get
a certification in baby and infant swimming with Austswim, Australia’s
national swimming organisation and has been teaching since 2013. In
August 2017, with another baby swim teacher, she opened a swimming
school centre, Aquabubs, providing baby and infant swim classes in a purpose built, baby-friendly facility, with a heated, saltwater pool.
Zarina Parry worked as a producer in digital & online media for
many years in many countries, before finally returning home to Malaysia
to be close to her family again.
She left full time work just before the birth of her first child and
found a change in her career path just before the birth of her second
child.
She began to focus on parenting and children services, starting with
an online community manager role with www.babycenter.com.my and then as a
baby swimming teacher.
As a Virgo, she tends to get caught up in the small details of
things, but is making a conscious effort to look at the bigger picture
and apply a more wholistic approach.
