6 Ways You Can Be Healthy On-The-Go

6 Ways You Can Be Healthy On-The-Go

Being healthy is something that comes easily to some, and more difficult for others. What it boils down to is a healthy diet and regular exercise – sounds simple enough, right? Unfortunately, it isn’t.

Changing your eating habits and diet require discipline and determination, and quite frankly, it can take up quite a bit of your time. And this is a deterrent to those who lead busy lives and have no time to adjust to major changes. You may intend to eat healthier but coming home late from the office and fixing yourself a healthy dinner is not as convenient as a take-out, is it?

Although it will require changes in your busy life to lead healthier lives, it need not be a major change all at once. Why not try easing yourself into it? Make it all fit into your schedule. These baby steps are totally do-able so incorporate these tips into your daily living.

Have a Healthy Breakfast

Although there has been some debate on whether breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it makes sense to fuel your body before you start your day. Although it’s super easy to just grab a packet of nasi lemak and eat it at your desk in the office, it is also easy and healthier to make your own healthy breakfast on the go. You can prepare your breakfast the night before (it will take you all of ten minutes) and take it with you to work! Try our breakfast jar to get you started and you will soon be coming up with your own healthy concoctions. You can use oats, chia seeds, almond milk, fresh fruits, dried fruits, granola... the choices are endless.

Plan Your Meals

Planning your meals makes being healthier a lot easier. Knowing what you will be having and preparing it in advance makes you less susceptible to popping over to the nearest fast food joint, or having your fast food delivered to you! Make yourself a simple lunch to take to work or if you simply don’t have the time, then use a healthy food delivery service. Making your own lunch or dinner doesn’t have to be complicated. Snack Healthily

Snacking is something that most of us are guilty of. There’s the mid-morning hunger pangs that we have to deal with or the mid-afternoon munchies that have us craving for cakes and other sweet things for a quick pick-me-up. Why not try healthy snacks instead? Apart from fresh fruit and veggie sticks, you can also opt for nuts, granola, trail mix, or even healthy cookies (the keyword being ‘healthy’!).

Keep Hydrated

Yes, we keep on harping on about this but you must drink enough water in a day! Your whole body relies on hydration to function well so being dehydrated is never a good thing. Although drinking seems like an easy enough thing to do, you may surprise yourself with how little you actually drink in a day when you’re busy running around or are too engrossed in your work. Try keeping a diary of how much you drink and you may be taken aback! Remedy this by carrying your own bottle or flask of water around. If you’re not a fan of water, then try infusing it with some fruits and herbs for added flavour, or have juice instead.

Get Some Exercise

Try and get a little workout done a day. If you don’t have time to hit the gym, maybe go for a quick walk or jog around your neighbourhood. Incorporate a 15-minute yoga practice into your daily routine. You can also make little changes that can make a lot of difference such as parking your car a little further so you have to walk some distance, taking the stairs instead of the lift or escalator, walking over to your colleague’s desk instead of just picking up the phone – these may not sound like much but they’re certainly more than if you were to just do nothing!

Don’t Stretch Yourself Too Thin

Yes, you’re busy but your body and mind need to rest to perform at their best so do take some well-deserved time out and just relax. Let the stresses of the day go and just be!
